Things to know about German Universities
1- Is US high school diploma recognized in Germany?
A US high school diploma alone does not allow you to study in Germany. We will assess your certificate using the specifications issued by the “Zentralstelle für ausländisches Bildungswesen” (Central Office for Foreign Education – ZAB).

Check your eligibility
To be eligible for admission to a Bachelor’s programme at Fulda University of Applied Sciences, you must:
1. Have a university entrance qualification(Hochschulzugangsberechtigung / HZB) for German universities.
Depending on your previous secondary school and/or university education, you may have
● direct access to German universities
This means that your previous secondary school and/or university education is equivalent to a German Abitur and you can start studying directly.
● indirect access to German universities
This means that your previous secondary school and/or university education is not considered equivalent to a German Abitur. Before you can start studying, you have to attend a preparatory course (Studienkolleg), which lasts two semesters, and pass the assessment test (Feststellungsprüfung) at the end. Alternatively you can join Fulda University´s Pre-College programme.
2. Provide the documentary evidence of the required language proficiency in German and/or English as described under „Language certificates“.
3. Fulfill additional admission requirements for certain programmes, for example an internship or a study contract with a cooperating school/company. Therefore, please pay careful attention to the requirements for the programme(s) of your choice (click here for an overview).
Language certificates
Most Bachelor’s programmes are completely conducted in German. For them, the following language requirements apply:
Proof of German proficiency at C1 level, for example, DSH2, TestDaF 4x4, telc C1 Hochschule, or Goethe C1 submitted at the latest on the day of enrolment.
At the time of application, the B2 level is acceptable, for example, DSH1, TestDaF 4x3, telc B2 or Goethe B2. In the case of admission, applicants may enrol and have time until the start of their studies to provide a certificate at the required C1 level.
Besides the above mentioned German skills additional English proficiency at B1 level is required for the programmes ‘International Business Administration.
At the time of application no specific proof of English knowledge is required. In the case of admission, applicants may enrol and start studying and have until 31 May (summer semester) and 30 November (winter semester) to submit a proof at the required B2 level. An overview of acceptable certificates can be found here.
Only English proficiency is required for the programme "International Business and Management".
At the time of application no specific proof of English knowledge is required. In the case of admission, applicants may enrol and start studying and have until 31 May (summer semester) and 30 November (winter semester) to submit a proof at the required B2 level. An overview of acceptable certificates can be found here.
Either German proficiency at level C1 or English proficiency at level B2 is required for the programme “Food Technology”. At the time of application, no specific language proof is required.
In the case of admission, applicants may enrol and have time until the first day of lectures (mid-October) to provide one of the required certificates. An overview of acceptable certificates can be found here.
Specific language requirements apply for the programmes "Science and Engineering" and "International Health Sciences". Both require English proficiency at B2 level and German proficiency at B1 level. At the time of application, no proof of English is required, but at least an A2 certificate in German.
In the case of admission, enrolment is possible without the required language certificates. The German certificate is due at the latest on the first day of lectures (mid-October), the English certificate on 30 November.
For both programmes applies: Applicants, who verifiably pursued their entire school and/or university education in English, do not need an additional English certificate.
Applicants qualifying for Studienkolleg need to prove German proficiency at B1 level in order to receive an invitation for the entrance examination. This also applies in case you wish to study a programme mainly/completely taught in English.
For Financial support please WATCH THIS.
Germany is known for the many grants and scholarships it offers for international students. Whatever your field of study may be, the chances of finding a source of funding are numerous. Be it engineering, literature, or art, all you have to do is search carefully and make sure you are attentive while applying for a grant.
For example, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is a state-supported body offering a wide range of scholarships and research grants for international students. There are also other organizations that help students from overseas to get the education they want and the financial stability to manage the living expenses in Germany.

How do top students study?
B.S. in Neuroscience, Johns Hopkins University (Graduated 2021)Upvoted by Jennifer Limansky, Masters Public Administration & Education, New York University and Krishna Dev Pathak Krishna, B. A. Studying & Vocabulary of the English Language, University of Allahabad (2018)4y
While there is no perfect formula for everyone, I want to share my study techniques that have allowed me to excel through high school and will hopefully continue to help me as a student at Hopkins.
Top students practice self-discipline instead of relying on motivation. I’ve touched on this quite a bit in my previous answers, but the gist is if we wait until we feel motivated to complete an assignment, we will have wasted precious time putting it off and also added unnecessary stress. Instead, we need to schedule out or write down when we will be completing this assignment, whether we want to or not. This leads me to my next point.
Top students stay organized. I carry a planner where I write down my schedule for the day and any new homework that I receive. I’ve written out important dates (like exams and essay due dates) on a large calendar in my room so that no assignment sneaks up on me. Knowing exactly what needs to be done allows me to be uber-productive and never be surprised by an assignment or exam.
Top students actively review. A student who passively reviews will spend several hours rereading notes or the textbook and probably score worse than the student who actively reviews for half the time. Here are two different ways I actively review.
For quantitative subjects like calculus and chemistry, I do as many problems as I can, and while I’m doing them, I explain my steps out-loud like I’m teaching a class.
For subjects like anatomy and my introductory neuroscience class that require memorization, I use a program called Anki, which is basically a flashcard app. On one side of the flashcard, I’ll ask, “From which two sources does the NS receive blood?” I’ll ponder, and then answer from the left & right internal carotid and vertebral arteries. Actively reviewing and retrieving information helps you to internalize the material much better than passively rereading and/or highlighting.
Top students use spaced repetition. Instead of cramming and forgetting everything two days after the exam, I use spaced repetition where I review the material almost every day (Anki is very beneficial for this process), and after the fourth or fifth time seeing it, I will have internalized the material so well that it will stick with me. Don’t cram; study a little every day.
Top students use external sources to aid them. Who cares if your professor didn’t explain the material well enough? It’s up to you to stop complaining and figure it out. If I don’t understand the material, I first go to YouTube or Khan Academy and see if that can help me. If not, I call a friend. If that doesn’t work either (which rarely happens), I go to my professor’s office hours. You have to be proactive.
Top students have a purpose. The majority of top students have a purpose. For me, I want to advance the field of paralysis and aid in finding a cure. Without that purpose, I doubt I would try as hard or care as much. If you find your purpose, you can do anything.
I hope this lengthy answer was somewhat beneficial in any way. Comment below with your study techniques. I’m always looking for ways to improve.
